The San Andreas Metro Sheriff's Department (SAMSD) was established July 2023, after the merging of the Blaine County Sheriff's Office and the Los Santos County Sheriff's Office. Each Sheriff's Office operates independently with joint resources under one Department across the State of San Andreas. The Blaine County Sheriff's Office is still the primary agency within the San Andreas Metro Sheriff's Department. In October 2023, San Andreas Fire Rescue merged with SAMSD to create a full service Emergency Services Department. The department is officially named San Andreas Metro Sheriff's Emergency Services Department and referred to as Metro or SAMSD covering all services within the department in a simplified name.
